Article II Purpose: Section 1: The mission of the WSU-NC is to bring and introduce, educate, and promote Christian teachings and practices in the ݮƵ campus community in a peaceful and welcoming manner. The mission will be carried out through celebrating Masses in the Interfaith Center, organizing spiritual retreats, participating in Bible study, participating in various religious events on campus, providing service to the community, and engaging in social activities. Article III Membership: Section 1: Membership shall be open to all full-time and part-time undergraduate students of ݮƵ who have paid their student activities fee for the current academic semester. Section 2: Members are considered to be active if they attend at least one-half (1/2) of scheduled meetings and events. All members are expected to be active participants and contributing members to the success of the club. Article IV Officers: Section 1: The officers of the club shall be the President, Vice President, and Secretary-Treasurer. Section 2: The roles of the officers will be as follows: President: To administer the club programs, to preside over all meetings of the club, to have general supervision over the affairs of the club, and to represent the club in an official capacity. Vice President: To assist the President as needed by working closely with them, to preside over meetings in the absence of the President, and to facilitate the mission of the club during regular meetings. Secretary-Treasurer: To keep minutes of all meetings, to maintain the communication between members, to perform any clerical tasks as deemed necessary by the President and the membership, to handle all financial transactions that are incurred by the club, to maintain the club fundraising account, and to keep accurate records that could be requested by the President at any time. The Secretary-Treasurer will also keep track of membership and attendance for the club. Section 3: Officers will be selected for the following academic school year during a regular meeting in April as determined by the President. Section 4: All active members of the WSU-NC are eligible to run for office so long as they have been an active member for at least one (1) semester. Section 5: Terms of office shall be for a period of one (1) academic year. An officer may be elected to serve as many terms of office as the members of the club see fit to elect them. Article V Advisors: Section 1: Advisors are open to any faculty, staff or librarian. Section 2: The duties of the Advisor shall be to provide assistance to the President and club members as requested. Section 3: Advisors must be approved by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the active members of the club. Article VI Elections: Section 1: Votes will be cast by a paper ballot tallied by a pre-determined non-voting member. Section 2: No election may be held if there is not a quorum of fifty percent (50%) of the active club members plus one (1) present at the meeting. Section 3: Should there be a tie in any race, the pre-determined non-voting member will break the tie. Section 4: At the last meeting in March those interested in running for office will inform the club of their interest so long as they have been an active club member for at least one (1) semester. Article VII Meetings: Section 1: The club shall meet no less than once (1) per week during the academic school year with exceptions made by the President with the consensus of the other club officers and the advisor(s). Section 2: Additional regular meetings may be called as needed by the President with consensus of the other club officers as deemed necessary. Article VIII Vacancies: Section 1: In the event that an officer resigns, the position shall be filled following the procedure outlined in Article VI. Section 2: In the event that an advisor resigns, the position shall be filled following the procedure outlined in Article V. Article IX Amending Procedure: Section 1: This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the active members of the club and if approved by the Rules and Regulations Committee of the Student Government Association. Article X Removal from office: Section 1: Any member of the club will motion for a vote of no confidence if they believe an officer is not fulfilling their duties. If the motion is seconded, a formal vote of the club will be taken via secret paper ballot. A two-thirds (2/3) majority will be required to remove an officer. Section 2: Any member of the club will motion for a vote of no confidence if they believe an advisor is not fulfilling their duties. If the motion is seconded, a formal vote of the club will be taken via secret paper ballot. A two-thirds (2/3) majority will be required to remove an officer. Article XI Recognition of Safety and Waiver of Liability: Section 1: The Student Government Association (herein, SGA) and this Club, WSU-NC, recognize that the overall safety and wellbeing of its Club members is a priority function of the Club. This Club (named above) is only authorized to conduct its activities in a designated University approved location such as one provided on campus grounds or at a recognized location that is designed or approved for this Clubs specific activities. Each Club member, as a material condition of membership, understands, accepts and agrees that his/her participation in this Club is voluntary and that he/she voluntarily assumes all risks and liabilities associated with his/her participation. Each Club member, by accepting membership, agrees to hold the SGA harmless from and indemnify the SGA against any and all liability, including, but not limited to physical, financial, emotional and property damage claims, whether sustained or inflicted, in connection with or in any way related to the participants participation in the Club. Once approved the SGA acts as an administrative resource for the Club and is not responsible for managing Club activities. The Club must be under proper supervision (by an advisor or coach or certified facility manager) while performing Club activities which may include but are not limited to practices, meetings and competitions. Any and all injuries, whether incurred or inflicted in connection with Club activity, must be reported to ݮƵ Public Safety (413) - 572-5262 immediately per University reporting procedures. The SGA Parliamentarian or Representative must also be notified of such injury in writing no later than twenty-four (24) hours after the injury occurs. Reports of injuries will be kept by the SGA within the Clubs file. After a report of such an injury has been made, all Club activities must cease while the cause of the injury is determined and an assessment of the situation occurs. After such determination and assessment by the Rules and Regulations committee, the club may resume its activities only if authorization from the SGA Parliamentarian to resume is issued in writing.
