ࡱ> EGDe &bjbj{{ .<n\n\  $4#H#######$$' )#)#>#.##r!T"0M0m!"T#0#!(("("p)#)##( > L: MOVEMENT SCIENCE, SPORT AND LEISURE STUDIES MAJORS CLUB CONSTITUTION OF ݮƵ Article I Name: Section 1: This organization shall be known as the Movement Science, Sport and Leisure Studies Majors (MSSLS) Club of ݮƵ. Article II Purpose: Section 1: The purpose of the club shall be to provide professional, social and community service experiences relating to Movement Science, Sport and Leisure Studies through activities occurring both on and off campus. The club officers and its members will be responsible for initiating and organizing such events. Article III Membership: Section 1: Membership shall be open to all full-time and part-time undergraduate students at ݮƵ who have paid their student activities fee for the current academic semester. Section 2: Members are considered to be active if they attend and participate in a minimum of fifty percent (50%) of all club meetings and activities. Article IV Officers: Section 1: The Movement Science, Sport and Leisure Studies Majors Club will have seven (7) officers. Officers will include two (2) Co-Presidents, two (2) Co-Vice Presidents, two (2) Co-Treasurers and one (1) Administrative Assistant. Section 2: The Co-Presidents shall call and preside over all meetings. They shall appoint all committee members, subject to the majority consent of the remaining officers. They shall present a Presidential Report at the onset of each meeting. The Co-Vice Presidents shall assist the Co-Presidents in all their duties. They shall assume the duties of the Co-Presidents in their absence. They shall keep a record of members in attendance at meetings and functions. The Co-Treasurers shall be responsible for all Movement Science Sport and Leisure Studies Majors Club funds. They shall keep a current record of all expenditures. They shall have the duties of Chairman of Meetings in the absence of the Co- Presidents and Co-Vice Presidents. They shall present a Treasurers Report at the onset of each meeting. The Administrative Assistant shall keep the minutes of each meeting and session. They shall keep a record of all motions passed by the Movement Science, Sport and Leisure Studies Majors Club. They shall be responsible for all official correspondence. They shall present an Administrative Assistants Report at the onset of each meeting. Section 3: Officers for the upcoming school year shall be selected during the final club meeting of the previous school year. Section 4: Students who meet the membership guidelines identified in Article III are eligible to hold office. Section 5: The term of office for each officer shall be one (1) academic year. Article V Advisors: Section 1: Advisors are open to any faculty, staff, and librarian. Section 2: Advisors shall advise both officers and members at all meetings, and outside of all such meetings with regard to Movement Science, Sport and Leisure Studies Majors Club activities. They shall also act as a liaison between the Movement Science, Sport and Leisure Studies Majors Club and the Department of Movement Science, Sport and Leisure Studies, Athletic Department and the administration of ݮƵ. Section 3: Advisors to the club shall be elected by a simple majority vote of the members of the Movement Science, Sport and Leisure Studies Majors Club. Article VI Elections: Section 1: Active club members may nominate another active club member for office by submitting a written request to the current Co-Presidents. Section 2: Election votes will be cast by written ballot and tallied by a predetermined non-voting member. Section 3: No election may be held if there is not a quorum of fifty percent (50%) of the club members plus one (1) at the meeting. Section 4: In the event of a tie, a runoff election will be held. If the runoff ends in a tie, the predetermined non-voting member shall break the tie. Section 5: Elections will be held at the conclusion of the spring semester. Officers will hold office for one (1) academic year. Article VII Meetings: Section 1: The club will meet no less than one (1) time per month, excluding January, during the academic year. Section 2: Officers may hold separate meetings with only the officers and/or without the advisor(s). Section 3: Special meetings may be called by the Co-Presidents. Article VIII Vacancies: Section 1: Vacancies for officer will be filled through a simple majority vote of the remaining club officers, fifty (50) percent plus one (1). Section 2: Vacancies for an advisor will be filled through a simple majority vote of the remaining club officers, fifty (50) percent plus one (1). Article IX Amending Procedure: Section 1: This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the voting members of the club and if approved by the Rules and Regulations Committee of the Student Government Association. Article X Removal from Office: Section 1: Removal of an officer may be made through a simple majority vote of the remaining officers fifty (50) percent plus one (1), given that the individual has not performed their duties Section 2: Removal of an advisor may be made through a simple majority vote of the officers of the Movement Science, Sport and Leisure Studies Majors Club, fifty (50) percent plus one (1). Article XI Recognition of Safety and Waiver of Liability: Section 1: The Student Government Association (herein, SGA) and this Club, Movement Science Sport and Leisure Studies Majorsclub , recognize that the overall safety and wellbeing of its Club members is a priority function of the Club. This Club (named above) is only authorized to conduct its activities in a designated University approved location such as one provided on campus grounds or at a recognized location that is designed or approved for this Clubs specific activities. Each Club member, as a material condition of membership, understands, accepts and agrees that his/her participation in this Club is voluntary and that he/she voluntarily assumes all risks and liabilities associated with his/her participation. Each Club member, by accepting membership, agrees to hold the SGA harmless from and indemnify the SGA against any and all liability, including, but not limited to physical, financial, emotional and property damage claims, whether sustained or inflicted, in connection with or in any way related to the participants participation in the Club. Once approved the SGA acts as an administrative resource for the Club and is not responsible for managing Club activities. The Club must be under proper supervision (by an advisor or coach or certified facility manager) while performing Club activities which may include but are not limited to practices, meetings and competitions. Any and all injuries, whether incurred or inflicted in connection with Club activity, must be reported to ݮƵ Public Safety (413) - 572-5262 immediately per University reporting procedures. The SGA Parliamentarian or Representative must also be notified of such injury in writing no later than twenty-four (24) hours after the injury occurs. Reports of injuries will be kept by the SGA within the Clubs file. After a report of such an injury has been made, all Club activities must cease while the cause of the injury is determined and an assessment of the situation occurs. After such determination and assessment by the Rules and Regulations committee, the club may resume its activities only if authorization from the SGA Parliamentarian to resume is issued in writing.
