Section 2: This student chapter is not organized for pecuniary benefit and shall not make or declares dividends. Article II Purpose: Section 1: To develop a better understanding of the nature and functions of computer science and computer information systems as they relate to the business world today. Section 2: To study career opportunities in computer-related fields, learn more about company hiring practices and job prerequisites, and to develop skills that will help in the job-search and interview processes. Section 3: To establish a means by which all interested students can gain a better understanding of career opportunities available in the fields of computer science and computer information systems. Article III Organization: Section 1: Membership shall be open to all full-time and part-time undergraduate students of ݮƵ who have paid their student activities fee for the current academic semester. Section 2: Student Group Organization The chapter is a student group sponsored by the International Association of Computing Machinery and a local chapter. Section 3: Student Chapter Requirements Organization status us recognition by AMC that a group of students at ݮƵ is seriously interested in computer-related professions and that ACM is willing to assist this group in accomplishing its objectives. Article IV Meetings: Section 1: Meetings of the Student Chapter ( minimum of seven (7) ) shall be held during the regular school year. Special meetings shall be called at anything by the President or by written request of not less than ten percent (10%) of the membership. Notice of any special meetings shall be posted in a prominent place at least five (5) days in advance. Article V Finances: Section 1: The Student Chapter officers shall manage and control the property of the Student Chapter Section 2: Annual membership fees shall be set and established by the International Association and forwarded to the International Headquarters of the Association of Computing Machinery. Members will be considered delinquent if dues are not received with ninety (90) days of membership expiration date. Fees may be waived for students if the payment of fees will cause a financial hardship. Students wishing to join just the Student Chapter and not the International Chapter of ACM are exempt from the international dues. This action, however, will exclude the student from being recognized by the International Association of Computing Machinery and all rights and privileges associated with such recognition, and the student will only be recognized by the ݮƵ Student Chapter of the ACM as an associate member. This entitles the student to all the rights and privileges granted by the Student Chapter, but excludes the rights and privileges granted by the International Chapter. Section 3: Local fees may be levied by the Student Chapter to meet operating expenses. Section 4: Neither the Student Chapter nor the International Chapter or any of the local chapters of the ACM shall pay, assume, or become responsible for personal or unapproved debts or liabilities of any individual member of the Student Chapter. Section 5: The Student Chapter fiscal year shall start on September 1st and end on the following August 31st. Article VI Officers and Duties: Section 1: The President shall be responsible for presiding at all meetings of the club, assuring regular meetings of the club, and for all activities planned or participated in by the club. Section 2: The Vice President shall assume all duties of the President in case of absence or resignation of the President. In addition, the Vice President should serve as a direct aid to the President in carrying out his duties. Section 3: The Treasurer shall be entrusted with the handling of the treasury of the club in accordance with the procedures established by the University. Section 4: The Secretary shall keep a record of all activities of the club and be entrusted will all club correspondence. Article VII Committees: Section 1: The Student Chapter shall form whatever committees are necessary for its efficient operation. All Committee decisions must be approved by the vote of general membership. Committee work is not considered official business at a meeting and is exempt from the quorum requirements as stated in Article XIII. Section 2: One third (1/3) of the members of the committee constitutes a quorum at any committee meeting. No elections, votes, or committee business may take place without quorum. Article VIII Quorum: Section 1: One third (1/3) of the members of the student Chapter constitutes a quorum or meeting. No elections, votes, or offical business may take place without quorum. Article IX Rules of Order: Section 1: Rules contained in Roberts Rules of Order Revised shall govern the Student Chapter in all cases to which they are applicable and in which they are not inconsistent with the Bylaws of the Student Chapter. Article X Restrictions: Section 1: The Student Chapter, fostered by the Association of Computing Machinery, shall be non-racial, non-partisan, and shall wholly abstain from any political or labor affiliation or endorsement for any public office. Article XI Amendments: Section 1: Proposed amendments to the Student Chapter may be submitted in writing to the secretary by any officers or member of the organization. The secretary shall promptly notify all members of proposed amendment. Section 2: Amendments to the Bylaws shall be made at any regular or special meeting of the Student Chapter. By two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the members, including properly registered proxies, provided quorum is in attendance. Section 3: Any proposed amendment must be submitted to and received by the Chapter officers at least thirty (30) days prior to any regular or special meeting. A copy of the proposed amendment shall be sent to each member at least (10) days in advance of the meeting at which any amendment is to be submitted to a vote. Section 4: Any changes in Bylaws must be submitted to International Headquarters and Student Senate for final approval.
